The renewable energy industry continues to thrive in Greater Phoenix with Gestamp Solar Steel’s expansion in Surprise. Just over one year after announcing plans to build its facility in Surprise, Gestamp this week said it plans to add 60,000 square feet and 80 employees to its factory and U.S. headquarters, according to an Arizona Republic article.
Expanding in Surprise makes sense for solar equipment companies. With plenty of affordable land and a strategic position along the BNSF railway, Surprise provides the perfect climate for renewable energy. Indeed, Gestamp is the second major international solar equipment company to move to Surprise in the last two years.
“As I see it, this is only the very beginning,” Gestamp plant manager Scott Ellis said.
At GPEC, we like the sound of that.
